Early Trade

In addition to trading raw materials and technical skills, finished items made in other regions were also traded. Although wood was readily available to Alutiiq, Aleut and Inupiat groups, they traded wooden artifacts with their Athabaskan and Tlingit neighbours. These bowls were used for ceremonial purposes and reflected the extensiveness of each group's relationships.
