In addition to holding a substantial Indian collection, one of the Bata Shoe Museum's largest field study projects was conducted in India by Jaswant Singh on the traditional manufacture of Rajasthani juttis, Kohlapuri chappals, and Kashmiri Tibetan boots and vegetable fibre shoes. This research increased the Museum's knowledge about the wide diversity of traditional footwear in India and resulted in a major exhibition and publication titled Paduka; Feet and Footwear in Indian Culture.
