In the 1970s and early 1980s, discos were the destinations of choice for the glamorous set. New York's Studio 54 made the headlines and Saturday Night Fever was in the theatres. Skin-tight jeans had replaced the cocktail dress and outrageous high-heeled footwear was favoured over more demure stilettos.
