Miami
Traditionally, the Miami lived in the woodlands of Ohio, Indiana and Wisconsin. Culturally connected to the eastern parts of North America, the Miami were Woodlands, not Great Plains, people. Yet, by 1846, the majority of Miami found themselves relocated to Kansas. These transplanted people brought with them their Woodlands style moccasins and their renowned ribbon work skills. The influence of the Miami, as well as all the other eastern tribes forced to relocate, contributed to the development of the late 19th century Prairie-style.
