The Northern Plains

The northern Plains extended from Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota into Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. Although the northern Plains were home to many different tribes, all of the northern Plains people shared certain cultural similarities such as living in tipis and following large herds of animals. Northern footwear was typically a moccasin with side seam construction or a separate-soled shoe decorated with fine, Crow-stitched beadwork.
