The Central Plains

The Central Plains was home to the Teton Sioux and the Northern Cheyenne. Today, Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming and sections of Colorado form the homelands of these tribes. Fully embracing the nomadic lifestyle, the Sioux and the Cheyenne were expert horsemen and hunters who lived in tipis following the bison herds.

Rawhide-soled shoes embellished with extensive amounts of lane-stitch beadwork were commonly worn on the Central Plains.
