Symbolism
The artistic vocabulary available to women was richly varied. Some symbols carried enduring spiritual meanings, while others reflected the everyday world and were open to individual interpretation. Some quill or beadwork designs reminded the wearer of someone or something and were meant to be seen from the wearer's angle of vision.
