How to Read a Shoe
Level: 15-16 yearsGoals:
- Introduce students to closely examining artifacts to glean information
- Demonstrate the ability to record information and key ideas from research
Description:
Divide the class into five groups. Assign each group one of the 3-D shoes. You may choose examples from different culture groups, or several from one. Ask each group to complete the 'How to Read a Shoe' Worksheet, closely observing details as they manipulate the object, and gleaning information from other parts of the Footsteps on the Sacred Earth web exhibition. The group may engage in further research as necessary.
Each group will make a presentation to the class based on their findings.
