High Heels: Fashion TimelineLevel:
Gr. 11 Ontario Curriculum: Fashion and Creative Expression; any other class at the high school level that discusses fashion and society
The goal of this activity is to establish a basic time-line of high heel history by answering five questions on a worksheet, prepared by the teacher. Students will learn how changes in political and social history influence fashion and style. In order to complete the worksheet, students will need access to the web exhibition 'Heights of Fashion'.
As a follow-up activity ask students to look at their own shoes. What political, social, cultural, or economic events may influence the shoes they are wearing or influence the fashions of their generation? In small groups, students can share their findings with the class in the form of a small presentation.
